VITAL STATISTICS.
FIGURES FOR THE QUARTER. DECREASE IN BIRTHS' AND DEATHS. A decrease of 14 in the number of births for the quarter ended Maiwh 31, compared with the corresponding quarter last year, is the outstanding feature of the vital statistics for the Ashburton registration district. Deaths show a decrease of one and marriages a decrease of three. The figures for first quarter in 192 S were almost the same as those of last year. Particulars for the period just ended are as follow, those for the previous two years also being given :
