In the House of Commons, the censure motion on the Government, moved by the leader of the Conservative Party (Mr Stanley Baldwin), was defeated by dUo votes to 235. The motion deplored the depression in trade and the increase in unemploypolicy resulting from the Government s policy, and regretted the refusal oi the Government not only to extend safeguarding and Imperial preference, but even* to declare its intentions regardino- the maintenance of existing safeguarding and the McKenna, duties on sugar, milk and the key industries, thereby increasing uncertainty and distress.
