The sinking of the steamer Chief Maquilla off the Aleutians, en route to the Orient, six months ago, culminated to-day in a suit for £58,800 by the Insurance Companyf of America against the Canadian-African Shipping Company and Canadian Navigation Company. The vessel carried cargo worth £IOO,OOO. Plaintiffs allege that the vessel was unseaworthy with the cargo improperly loaded. Ten other suits on the same grounds aggregate £IOO,OOO.
