GENERAL ASSEMBLY.
PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, March 6. At the afternoon session of the Presbyterian General Assembly, the reports of the Advisory Board and the Christchurch Property Committee were adopted. The evening session was devoted to a youth demonstration. Miss L. Buchanan was ordained as a deaconess, and appointed to the work of travelling secretary of the Young Women’s Bible Class Union. The Rev. E. P. Blamires, Methodist Young People’s secretary', addressed the Assembly on “Continuity in Religious Education.” He made a strong appeal for co-operation in the work oi carrying out a complete programme of religious education, and was given a very cordial reception. In connection with the social service report, the Rev. John Paterson of Wanganui, Intimated that the Margaret Watt orphan homes would be erected shortly after the end of April this year. The approximate value of the Watt Trust would be £BO,OOO, and would be administered by the minister and session of St. Paul’s, Wanganui, in co-operation with the Presbyterian Social Service Association in 'Wellington.
