METHVEN STOCK SALE. EASIER PRICES FOR STORES. The fortnightly stock sale was held m the Methven. Saleyards yesterday, when there was a much larger entry or sheep than of late, the total being about 7000. Tire inclement weather causing a temporary cessation of harvesting was no doubt responsible for the larg© attendance of farmers. Prices for fats was well up to schedule rales, and the offering was all sold. The store sheep entry consisted of a big variety of all classes. Many lines of fo'othiil country ewes and lambs were penned. Prices were easy compared with those ruling two weeks ago; even better quality lambs fit -for feed showed 1 a drop of up to Is 6d per head, while the decline in the smaller class of lambs was more pronounced. Certainly the prices represented a better margin as between fats and stores when the cost of fattening is taken into consideration. The sale of ewes was a reasonable one, and with the exception of a few hundred, the total yarding was sold. No cattle were offered, while the small yarding of pigs sold well at recent market rates.
