THE COAL STRIKERS.
LEVY ON WORKERS IN AID. (United Press Association—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, March 6. The Mining . Committee of the Trade Union Conference, just concluded, has fixed levies payable by all workers to assist the coal miners. These range from 2s a week in the case of adult workers receiving £5 a week to 4s a week in the case of those earning £7. The Congress concluded by singing tlie “Red Flag.” CONFERENCE POSTPONED. NEWCASTLE, March C. Aat the request of the eoalowners, in consequence of the death of Mr John Brown, the conference with the miners’ representatives to try to'arrange peace in the coal industry has been postponed Until Monday.
