MUNICIPAL BODIES.
THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE, (Per Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, March 6. At the Municipal Conference, the report of the Palmerston North committee on the Urban Farm Lands Rating Bill was considered. On the motion of Mr Skoglund, it was unanimously decided that the Bill be not approved. A draft of the proposed Municipal Authorities Amendment Bill was considered! The conference decided to suppoft the Bill. Mr Troup (Wellington) moved: “That it be an instruction from this conference to the executive that it prepare a report for submission to the next conference on the question of local bodies pooling their sinking funds under the control of a board of sinking fund commissioners, with a view to lending such sinking funds to local bodies.” The motion was carried. The election of officers resulted: President: Mr T. Jackson (Rotorua); vice presidents, the Mayors of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill; executive committee, ibe Mayors of Feilding, Masterton, Wanganui and Hamilton, Councillors M. F. Luckie (Wellington), M. E. Lyons (Christchurch), the chairman of the Ellerslie Town Board, the chairman of the Otautau Board and the chairman of the Auckland Transport Board. ,
