M.C.C. V. MANAWATU.

The cricket match between Manawatu and the M.C.C. team commenced to-day in dull, threatening weather. Gilligan won the toss, and sent Manawatu to the wickets.
The Manawatu batsmen did not open well against the bowling of the Englishmen. After a succession of maiden overs the first wicket fell with the score at 10.
Wickets fell freely, and-at 1 o'clock the score was five for 28.
Tn the remaining 15 minutes before the luncheon adjournment, England got two more Manawatu wickets, the score then being seven for 63, a fruitful partnership between A. M. Ongley and Cutler having advanced the score materially. Legge took four of the wickets.
BOWLING.
DOMINION TOURNAMENT. DTJNEDIN, This Day. The New Zealand bowling tourney was continued to-day, when the first round of the rinks competition was commenced, 90 teams competing. - At 10.30 o'clock heavy ram stopped play with ' the round half finished. There is no chance of resumption till late in the afternoon. Later. Bowling has been abandoned for the day.
