RUGBY FOOTBALL.
BRITISH TEAM'S VISIT.
(Special to the “Guardian.”)
WELLINGTON, January Jo
Mr S. S. Dean, chairman of the New Zealand Rugby/ Union, said, to-day; “All arrangements have been completed for tlie visit of the British Rugby team to New Zealand this year, and, as far as we know, the team will be chosen next Saturday/ The international match, Wales y. England, will lie played on Saturday, and no doubt the "selectors of the team for New Zealand will be there to make the final study of form. Trial matches have been played, as also have matches England y. the Rest and Scotland v. France.”
It is not expected that the selectors will wait till next month before finalising the team, as the players will require good notice. They are to leave for New Zealand in April. Advice has been received, by Mr Bonsor, the New Zealand representative of Hamer'and Co., that the New Zealand Association is to entertain the team at the Savoy Hotel on April 10 on the eve of their departure. The Duke of York will be present. The team for the tour is likely to differ from that selected provisionally last year. Tt is known that a number of players in the original selection are unable to make the trip. Reports show that many new players are in the running for international honours, and quite a number have received consideration for places in the team for New Zealand. The manager of the team will be Air James Baxter, who was president of the English Rngbv Union in 1926-27.
