MENTAL DEPRESSION.
PARLIAMENTARY CLERK’S DEATH.

At the inquest on Mr G. AV. Otterson (Clerk of Committees at Parliament House), who threw himself over a parapet, the Coroner (Mr Barton I S.M.) said th»p evidence showed that deceased had been suffering from dyspepsia. which was always associated with depression. In this ease it appeared to have resulted from a physical injury received many years ago. and from which there was no hope of complete recovery. Deceased’s condition also appeared to have l>een aggravated by an injury to his head received when lie fell from a,horr<~ at Norfolk Island about "three months ago. The verdict was that deceased died as too result of injuries sustained in a voluntary fall from Parliament Buildings on January 10, this taking place during a period of severe mental depression.
