PERSONAL.
Prior to his departure from Methven for Abbotsford (Otago), to which station he has been transferred as station master, Sir James Stewart was met by a representative, gathering of business people and the farming community. Mr A. \Y. llremcr (chairman) referred to the many excellent qualities of the guest and to his happy knack of serving the public in his capacity as a railway official at Methven during the past seven years. Messrs Jones. Reid, Thompson, Cookson, and others endorsed the chairman’s remarks. The chairman, on behalf of his many Methven friends, presented Air Stewart with a wallet of notes with which to purchase some suitable memento of his sojourn among them. He also wished the recipient and Airs Stewart and family happiness' and success in his new sphere. Air Stewart thanked one and all for theij- good wishes and handsome present, and said he considered what Ije had done 1 had been only a part of his duty to them. Air and Airs Stewart and family left this morning for their new home.
