BRIBERY ALLEGATIONS
CHARGE OF CONSPIRACY. NEW SOUTH WALES INVESTIGATION. (Dnited Press Association—Copyriaht.) ; „ T . SYDNEY, June 7. Mr Justice (Davidson, the Royal Commissioner who, at the request of Major Jarvie, a member of the - Legislative Assembly, inquired into allegations of bribery launched againstMichael Fitzgibbons, in which Major Jarvie's name freely mentioned in subsequent bribery proceedings against Fitzgibbons, has furnished his report. 'Mr Justice Davidson found that. Major Jarvie corruptly attempted to bribe the late Chief Secretary, Mr Bruntnell, and that he conspired with Fitzgibbons for that purpose. The State Cabinet has instructed the Attorney-General to institute criminal proceedings against Major Jarvie. Tha recent prosecution against * Fitzgibbonstailed.—Australian Press Association.
Michael Fitzgibbons, an omnibus proprietor, was acquitted on a charge of attempting to bribe the late Mr A. Bruntnell who was Chief Secretary of New South Wales. It was alleged' that Major Jarvie called on Mr Bruntnell at his office, and on departing left a case of pipes. Mr Bruntnell told h£secretary to return the present at once, and under it was found an envelope containing two £IOO notes
