COURSES FOR FARMERS
LINCOLN COLLEGE WORK. At the meeting of the Mid-Canter-bury Council of Education this morning a letter was received from the Director of the Xincoln College Board of Directors, in answer to a letter from the Council, advising that short courses to farmers and others in agriculture had been arranged for July 8 to July 20. The following subjects would be dealt with:—Soils and soil improvements, identification of grass and other pasture plants by leaves and seeds, manures and manurial requirements, animal feeding, wool, some diseases of farm crops, veterinary first aid, and farm costing. Mr J. Brown said it would bo advisable if the students taking the course could find board at or near the College. This would tend to improve the course as the students could meet each night after the lectures and exchange ideas.
It was decided that to suggest to the Board of Governors, that, if possible arrangements be made for board at Lincoln, preferably at the College, in order that the interchange of ideas might be carried out between students. It was further decided that the Board of Governors be congratulated on the institution of short courses for farmers.
