MALTE BRUN HUT.
CONTRACT FOR ERECTION. to the "Guardian.") CHRISTCHURCH, June 7. The contract for the erection of the Malte Brun Hut has been let to the Mount Cook Motor Company. The tender covers the transport of material to the site as well as the actual erection of the building. The Malte Brun Hut will be, approximately, of the same dimensions as the Ball Hut, erected three or four years ago.
With respect to the transport of material, an unusual feature is that it will have to be conveyed for ten or twelve miles up the Tasman Glacier. It was proposed to use the Byrd Antarctic Expedition's dogs for this purpose, but there is no information available as to whether effect is to be given to this proposal.
