UNUSUAL CRIME.

ATTEMPTED ASPHYXIATION. GAS IN A BEDROOM. (United Press Association—Copyright.))' SYDNEY, December 27. A remarkable crime was reported to the detectives to-day. It was perpetrated in a cottage in Arcadia Street, Coogee, occupied by Morris Levy, an insurance agent, his wife, and grownup daughter. Somebody attached a garden hose ta the gas meter, then placed the other end through the window where Mis* Levy was sleeping. The fumes spread through the home and awakened Mr Levy about 3 a.m. He hurriedly, opened every window without striking a match and called t/Oh his daughter, who was unharmed. The hose was not Mr Levy's property. Al .man's footprint was discovered neat! the daughter's window.
