UNUSUAL CRIME.
ATTEMPTED ASPHYXIATION. GAS IN A BEDROOM. (United Press Association—Copyright.))' SYDNEY, December 27. A remarkable crime was reported to the detectives to-day. It was perpetrated in a cottage in Arcadia Street, Coogee, occupied by Morris Levy, an insurance agent, his wife, and grownup daughter. Somebody attached a garden hose ta the gas meter, then placed the other end through the window where Mis* Levy was sleeping. The fumes spread through the home and awakened Mr Levy about 3 a.m. He hurriedly, opened every window without striking a match and called t/Oh his daughter, who was unharmed. The hose was not Mr Levy's property. Al .man's footprint was discovered neat! the daughter's window. Mr Levyi declares that he has not ft solitary eniemy and his daughter knows no reason why anyone should desire totake her life.—Australian Press Association,
