YACHT'S VOYAGE

AUCKLAND TO,NORFOLK ISLAND ARRIVAL AFTER EIGHT DAYS. (Per Press As.sooiation.l AUCKLAND, December 27. The first-class yacht Victory, which sailed from Auckland eight days ago, has arrived safely at Norfolk Island, according to private advice received this ovening. The Victory, which is a good sea boat and is well known in racing on the Waitemata, got clear very quietly last Wednesday morning about- ten o'clock, few outsiders knowing that she was about to undertake anything but a cruise to Kawau or Russell. The last that had been heard of her was that she left Whangaroa on Saturday night. She is a North Shore yacht, owned by the Georges, of Northcote, and she carries a small crew on her venture. The adventurers are Captain G. H. George, who is master of the steamer Hikurangi, a coal trader between Onerahi and Auckland; his brother, Mr H. "J. C. George, a solicitor of Auckland, both of whom live at Richmond Avenue, Northcote; and Mr Cecil R. Bowman, of Queen Street, Northcote. Another man was to have joined, but the ship had to sail without him. They expected that the return voyage would last about a month. The Victory called at Russell first. The distance from. North Cape to Norfolk is about '350 miles and the total distance from Auckland about 600 miles.
