A LUCKY ESCAPE.

MOTOR-CAR FALLS 200 FEET. WEST COAST ACCIDENT. (Per Press Association.) * REEFTON, December 27. To-day a car went over Dublin Terrace, a drop of over 200 .feet A Fiat car, owned and driven by Mr Chideey, of Christchurch, whilst approaching a car on Dublin's Terrace on the Nelson Road, two miles pari; Lyell, went over the bank ;.nd fell rot a distance of over 200 feet. A number of cars appeared on the scene of the accident and rendered assistance. The occupants, Mr and Mrs Chidgey and Miss Davis, of Christchurch, were extricated from under the car. . . , Onlookers regarded it as a miraculous escape from death, as the car was badly damaged, its passage being checked by a fallen log. t . The occupants were not seriously injured. Miss Davis sustained shock and abrasions, and her ankle, which was caught in the door, was injured. She was pinned.under the car for nearly half an hour. Mr Chidgey is suffering from scalp injuries, shock and abrasions. Mrs Chidgey also is suffering from shock and abrasions. Newman's service car brought the three injured persons into Reef ton and they were admitted to the hospital. Upon inquiry this evening it was learned that their condition had been found to be not serious.
