OBITUARY.
MR WILLIAM LAMBIE. A well-known resident of the Ashburton County, Mr William Lambie passed away at his residence, Winter s Road, Allenton, on Christmas Day, in his seventieth year. Mr Lambie was born in Lanarkshire, Scotland, and' came to New Zealand in 1864, when five years of age. For a short period he managed an estate in Marlborough on behalf of the Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. In 1897 Mr Lambie occupied a similar position at Mount lorlesse, where he remained until 19v*In that year he took charge of the Mount Possession Estate on behalf of the Loan and Mercantile, and occupied this position until 1920. During this latter period, Mr Lambie was a member of the Mount Somers Road Board for six or seven years, part of which he was chairman. In 1920 ho took up farming at Ruapuna on his own account, and at the same time managed the adjoining farm belonging'to \Mr Frank Peter. In September of „this year Mr Lambie's health became impaired, and he was admitted to a private hospital. His condition showed a slight improvement for a short pe no ?> but gradually weakened, and Mr Lambie passed away on Christmas Day. He leaves a widow and two sons, Mr (jr. Lambie, of Auckland, and Mr A. Lambie, of Wanganui.
