A message from Chicago states that, characterised as the greatest upheaval in Illinois, the political of Len Small (Governor), W. Thompson (Mayor), and Judge Robert Crowe (State Attorney) with its, slogan "America First," was buried under an avalanche at the Republican primaries to-day. Mr Small was defeated for candidature as Governor by Mr Louis Emmerson (Secretary of State). Judge Crowe lost the candidature for State Attorney. News from Chicago says with the victory of Mr Swanson over Mr Crowe now practically certain, the former has issued a statement saying that he interprets the vote as an indication of the fixed determination on the part of voters to'change the standards of politics and the principles of the office of State Attorney. The newspapers demand that MiThompson should fulfil his threat and resign. The "Chicago Tribune" in a leading article says: "Less than a week ago Mr Thompson said he would resign the Mayoralty if Mr Crowe were defeated. Mr Crowe has been defeated. The defeat of Mr Crowe is the defeat of MiThompson, with a]l he represents of misgovernment and demagogy.
