MELBOURNE WOOL SALES. MELBOURNE? This Day. Received This' Day, 12.40 p.m.) At the wool sales, late rates were fully maintained. Comebacks of all orades were in good supply, meeting strong competition. Crossbreds were also in good demand. The top price was 33d. > LONDON WOOL SALES. (Received This Day, 12.25 p.m.) LONDON, January 17. \t the wool sales, 8,439 bales were offered, of which 6 071 were Australian and 1368 New Zealand. There was a attendance, and all sections; met strong all-round competition \orkshire was most active, but Continentals were less active than recently. In merinos, there was an excellent selection of creasy, prices being at par to five nor"cent above the December closing rates. Scoureds were practically unchanged, occasionally a shade easier. Crossbreds met the keenest competition, with an all-round advance of 10 per cent. Lambs were firm. New Zealand clips sold as follow: Tarata, up to 23Jd, average 22d ; Pare 26d and 23d, Tyo 40d.
