The fact that the consumption of alcohol in Britain lias been considerably less since the war is revealed by the latest figures. There has . been a reduction of 14,000,000 gallons of spirits or 7,000,000 barrels, but there has been an increase of 5,000,000 gallons of wines. The expenditure last year was 1445. per capita, or slightly more than £315,000,000. It is estimated that 1,500,000 gallons of whisky were shipped from England to America, for which Scottish distillers received £2,000,000.
