DEATH OF MR ENNIS.

VICTIM OF RAILWAY ACCIDENT. WELL-KNOWN RAILWAYMAN. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, February 13. Mr William O. Ennis, who was injured in the Manukau road motor accident, died in a private hospital this afternoon. Mr Ennis was one of the best known and most highly esteemed railwaymen in New Zealand. He began his service in Invercargill, where he also took an active interest in the volunteer movement. Before the war he was a captain in the New Zealand Railway Battalion, organised under Mr E. H. Hiley's direction, and when war broke out he went abroad with the N.Z.E.F. With the army he had a most distinguished record, being awarded the Distinguished Service Order, and rising to the rank of lieutenant-colonel. For some years he was Assistant TrafficManager at Christchurch. Lately he held a high administrative position at the railways headquarters.
