A meeting of the Transport Group resolved that in order that the community should suffer no inconvenience as" the result of the present dislocation of the shipping .industry, -the Group offer its co-operation to the -Prime Minister in maintaining-an inter-State service. It considered the Government should commission all idle vessels of the • Commonwealth Line, and other idle vessels in ■various ;ports of the Commonwealth, which the Group will undertake to work in accordance with the terms of the agreement between the Commonwealth Shipping Board and the Group. Mr Tom Walsh, general president of the Seamen's states that he intends to communicate with the shipowners on Tuesday and notify them what progress the seamen air© making in the-consideration of tbe-terms of settlement laid down, and the probable date the Union desired that the conference again be called together.
