Tibbie, a guillotine cutter in the bookbinding department of an East End printing works, has been made a member of the Order of the British Empire 111 recognition of his readiness to grant blood transfusions to the London Hospital. The usual fee for this operation is £5 ss,' and Tibbie thus far has given the hospital the equivalent of £267 during 5§ years. He began through" hearing of a small boy who was run over by a taxi-cab and taken to the London Hospital. He went and offered blood, but was too late to save the boy. Since then Tibbie has held himself in readiness for possible operations. He says it makes him feel "a bit groggy" for a week, but he must go on with his work, as he cannot afford to do otherwise.

Tibbie has also been elected a. life governor of the London Hospital. The president, Lord Knutsford, said Tibbie had given a pint of blood on 44 occasions, and, although a poor man, had refused any fee.
