A DOUBLE TRAGEDY
MAN AND WOMAN DEAD.. A MOTOR CAR MYSTERY. RESULT OF GUNSHOT WOUNDS.. (Pe Press .Assoriation.l WHAKATANE, This Day. A man and woman were found dead,, with gunshot wounds, on the beach at Lake Rotoma at 10 o'clock this morning. Nearby was a Dodge car, number 20602. The police are investigating the affair. ROTORUA, This Day. News has been received that a man and a girl were found shot alongside a motor-car at Lake Rotoma. Mr M. Tomes, of the Public Works Deoartment, who was working near the road, heard shots. On investigating he found the girl about to shoot herself through the breast. The man's head was blown off. The weapon used was a single-barrel shotgun, sawn off short. A man named Relph was speaking to deceased ten minutes before the tragedy. The identity of the victims, is not known.
