Lord Milner is in a serious condition, suffering from sleeping sickness, says a London cablegram.
Sofrgeant-Major W. Edmonds, who is in charge of the Ashburton Military Area, is at present in Hospital, where he underwent an operation.
Mr Allan Baxter, manager of the Bank of New Zealand, at Methven, is at present on leave of absence. Mr J. Dawson, of the Rangirara branch, is relieving him.
Sir William Tyrrell (assistant Undersecretary at the Foreign Office) has been appointed to succeed the late Sir Eyre Crowe as Permanent UnderSecretary for Foreign Affairs, says a London cablegram. Mr J. D. Gregory who was prominent in connection with the Zinovieff letter at the last general election, will succeed Sir William Tyrrell as Assistant-Under-Secretary.
Captain George Meager, of Auckland, has been offered, by cable, an appointment to the air service between Britain and Australia. He was attached to the Airship Branch of the R.A.F. during the war, and brought a number of airships from Italy to England. He received British and Italian decorations.
