SOUTH CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB. FIRST DAY. The autumn meeting of the South Canterbury Jockey Club was commenced yesterday in perfect weather. The attendance was well up to the average for the off day, there being a fair contingent of Christehurch sportsmen present. Good fields provided some exec:lenst port, several exciting finishes bo ing witnessed. The totalisator investments were £16,208, compared with £15,761 on the corresponding day of last year.
