Senior-Sergt. D. Jackson, who has been in charge of the Ashburton police district for the past three and a half years, will retire from the force on September 29, and will be relieved of duty on June 29, when he will be granted three months' leave of absence. Senior-Sergt. Jackson joined the Police Force 35 years ago, and has served in districts in all parts of New Zealand, namely, Christchurch (twice), Ashburton (twice), Lyttelton, Oamaru, Rangiora, Mowhanga', Mangawekai, Akaroa, Aldington, Auckland, Thames, and Sydenham. Thirty years ago the retiring officer spent four years in Ashburton. He saiw service in the North Island during the building of the Main Trunk line, when he was stationed at Mowhango and Mangaweka for pver five years.
