ENGLISH COUNTY MATCHES. LONDON, July 23. Playing against Kent, Surrey, in the first innings, made 272, 1' ender scoring 73 Kent were dismissed for }Zo, mainly owing to the brilliancy of Hitch, who was bowling his fastest. He took seven wickets for 33, hitting the stumps five times. Surrey, on going m again, made 262 for the loss of seven wickets, and declared the innings closed. Fender scored 67 not out. Kent have lost no wickets for 63 runs.
