SOCIAL EVENTS AT HINDS.

At a sp*?dal- meeting ofrithe Vestry of Hinds Parish, it was*'decided to tender a welcome to Rev. Hay, Mrs Hay, and family, in Hinds. Hall, on August 3rd. There was a good attertnkmee of footballers and railwaymen ail asmoke ion cert tendered to Mr P.-Bennett, ■sho is being promoted to Qrira. MIS'. He then presented him with --a handsome clock. Messrs Chi snail, J. Dwyer (secretary), J. McSweeney; J. Crowe, J. Cook, F. J. Hampton, Smyth, also spoke. Mr Cottam, on behalf of the railway staff, presented him with a pipe aim tobacco pouch, and -spoke highly of Mr Bennett’s work. He was not only smart but trustworthy. Messrs W. Mnssen R. Hilliard, and T. Beriy also spoke. Mr Bennett suitably responded. The following eontrffiuted items -—Messrs M. Farrell , T- Beriy, C. Cottam, R. Hilliard, C. P. Reid, J. Smith, D. O’Reillly, T- Hurley J. McSweeney, A. Beatty, and W. Tilby. Mr and Mrs Bennett and family leave for Otira on Thursday.
