DUTY REMOVED

WELLINGTON, July 24

The'Hon. W. Nosworthy (Minister of Agriculture) announces that the Government has decided to suspend the existing duty on imported bran and pollard, and to issue permits for importations of a- limited quantity, provided that such imports are brought in before October 1 next. Tlie Minister explains that the existing shortage of bran and pollard appears to be due mainly to the exceptionally heavy demand caused by severe weather conditions, arid is not likely to continue longer than the winter months. Local mills cannot supply tlie demand. Applications for permits to import bran and pollard must be made to the Department of Industries and Commerce, Wellington.
