SHIELD AND OTHER COMPETITIONS.

The triangular match for the Bullock Shield was commenced by the Ashburton Miniature Rifle Club last week. Two more shoots have yet to be taken, and the following are the positions of the teams after the first round:—

No. 3 team —D. F. Keir 35, 0. H. Nicholls 35, G. McKenzie 34, J. H. Millar 32, P. Cookson 32. Total, 168. No, 1 team —G. He’fford jun. 34, W. Bickerstaff 34, IC. Simpson 33, T. Corbett 33, A. J.
