/ TO-DAY'S FORECAST.
The following forecast was issued:— The indications are for variable and strong breezes, but easterly moderate to strong prevailing, freshening and veering by east to south. Expect warm and humid conditions. The weather appears to be cloudy and unsettled, with rain following. Barometer falling, but rising after about 10 hours.
No rain was recorded in Ashburton last night. A heavy mist came over about 9 o'clock, and for a time rain looked likely. A change in the direction of the wind appeared to carry the threatening clouds away, and this morning the weather broke gloriously fme ; The highest barometric reading during the past 24 hours from 9 o'clock this morning was 29.61 in, a slight fall* The maximum temperature was 73 dVfr grees, and the minimum 51. At noon to-day the temperature was 83 degree* in the shade.
