BOWLING.
THE EAKAIA CLUB. There was a very large attendance at a meeting of the committee of the Aakaia Bowling Club held in the Road lioard office, it was decided to take steps at once to have three 400-gallon tanks erected as a water supply for cue bowling green, it was agreed to supply the names of four returned soldier members for a match to be held 111 Christchurch. It. was agreed that a collection be taken up on the green on Anniversary Day for the purpose of helping the fund for the supply ol Christmas comforts to the inmates of Bunnyside Mental Hospital. A letter was read from the Nelson Club seeking financial aid in a grounds improvement scheme. The letter was received. Particulars were read of a tournament to be held at Invercargill at New Year. It was agreed to let lockers to members for a charge of 5s per annum. The silver buttons, won by Messrs Blackley, Milne, Stubbs, and Gibson, were presented, and were immediately challenged for. Messrs Stubbs and Holmes each presented a guinea for prizes, and were accorded hearty votes of thanks. For the purpose of selecting the chaippion rink it was decided to add the following players to the rinks already selected for Saturday: Rink 1, Steers and Allen*; rink 2, Black and Rapley; rink 3, Cowan and Oliver; rink 4, Duncan and McNamara.
The following teams have been selected to represent the Rakaia Club in the match with Ashburton on Saturday:—Holmes (skip), Stubbs, Cameron,' and Milne; Borland (skip), Newman, Blackley, and Magson; Featherston (skip), Weaver, Judkins, and Hardy;, Henderson (skip)/ Wright, Hughes, and Palmer.
