CIVIL WAR BREAKS OUT. GOVERNOR’S PALACE STORMED. (Per Press Association, Copyright.) ROME, March 3. ! Civil war has broken out at Fiume between the Italian and Croat elements. The Italians occupied the post office and captured a torpedo boat after some fighting, in which hand grenades and machine-guns were used. ROME, Alarch 4. The “Alessagero” says the Fasciti captured the Government palace at Fiume. The President surrendered and signed a declaration renouncing office as head of the Government. ,

(Received March 6, 10.20 a.m.) ROME, March 4. Details of the Fiume troubles show that the attack on the Governors palace was made by Fascisti legionaries, headed by Deputy Giunta. After several hours’ bombing and machinegunning, in which both sides lost a number of dead and wounded, a military committee was sent by the besiegers to the Goyernor demanding the disarmament of the police and the resignation of the Government. The Governor subsequently issued a proclamation that he was compelled to surrender to the revolutionary forces and he transferred his powers to the National Citizens’ Committee of Defence. It is reported that the Governor (General -Zanilla) has left' the town and a new'Provisional Government has been instaMuiu the palace. A later message., stated that the Committee of National Defence proclaimed that in consequence of the Provisional Go.vernment’s 'vypjtulation after heavy fighting the Provisional Government and the Constituent Assembly,, had been dissolved. The Com mittee had provisionally assumed ful powers and entrusted tlie maintenance of order to the Carabinieri rltoyai troops and requested the Italian Government to assume the administration by appointing a representative, whc alone would be in a position to guarantee order and tranquility. CASUALTIES REPORTED. (Received March 6, Noon.) (Reuter.) ROAIE, March 5. The casualties in the 'Flume fighting were five killed and forty-nine wounded. The Foreign Minister has announced that the Italian Government is anxious to re-establisli tranquility at Fiume and is sending Commander Castelli as representative, THE REVOLUTION OVER. (Received Alarch G, 1.5 p.m.) LONDON, Alarch 5. The Fiume revolution has ended. Five were killed and 45 wounded. A Committee of National Safety has been formed, and has appealed to Italy to take over the protection of the city. The Government sent troops to restore order. The revolutionaries seized a monitor and bombarded Government House from the harbour, but little damage was done. Zanella finally hoisted the white flag, and was placed in an armoured car, and escorted out of the city.
