METHVEN.
Methven residents have arranged a comprehensive programme for thenpeace celebrations*.•-On July 1$ it is proposed to hold a monster gathering on the Methven ltacecoufse, and in. commemoration- of the event, trees will be planted by representatives of war-working societies, local bodies, ami residents. The grand procession will start at 11 a.m., and prizes will be given for the best decorated motor car and tradesman's display. The crowd, will be assembled at noon, when addresses will be delivered, and items rendered by the combined choirs. The afternoon is to • be devoted to sports^ for which a comprehensive programme for young and old has been arranged-. In the evening those who desire will be admitted free- to a picture entertainment in the hall. There will also ,be a grand display of fireworks on the .racecourse. Arrangements have . been made throughout the day to supply ■hot tea and hot water free to all visitors. ' On Sunday afternoon a united religious service will' be held in the Town Hall. On Monday, July 21, the ■celebrations will take the form of, a banquet, to commence at 7.30 p.m., for which complimentary tickets can be had an application. The celebrations will conclude with a grand ball on the evening of Friday, Juiy 25.
