HIGHWAY ROBBERY
MOTORIST ASSAULTED.

PALMERSTON NORTH, July 14. A sensational highway robbery is reported to the police as.having occurred about 6 p.m. on Saturday at Himitangi, in the Foxton district. Two Palmerston residents came across Mr G. Watson, of Levin, exchairman of the County Council, lying in a semi-conscious condition beside his car,- and badly knocked about. He was feiveyed to Palmerston for medical'weatinent. . He states that while motoring home from Palmerston, his car developed engine trouble. He was endeavouring to fix it when two men rode up on a motor cycle, and offered assistance. ■While he was bending down over the engine, he was assaulted by the men, and rendered unconscious. When he regained consciousness, he was minus his watch and £15 in cash.
