BURNSIDE MARKET.

At 'Burn-side' 173 fat cattle were penned. The quality on the whole was disappointing, very few cattle of really prime quality coming forward. The total yarding, except two trucks, came by road. Prices opened about equal _to last week's rates, and were fully maintained throughout. Best bullocks made £21 to £24, medium £17 10s. to £20, lighter to £16, best heifers £16 12s 6d, medium £12 to £14.

Fat Sheep.—Only 970 were penned. The demand was keen throughout-. Prices advanced 2s for medium and prime, and somewhat more for extra. Prices for all but light, which- were easy, improved as the sale progressed. Extra prime wethers made 50s to 59>s 9d, prime 43s 6d to 50s, medium 35s to 40s; prime ewes 39s 3d, medium 30s to 355, light 28s. Fat Lambs.—3B3 were penned. Owing to export buyers being out of the market, and the season i'or butchers being about over, buyers had matters all their own way and prices declined fully ss. Some lots were almost totally neglected. -The;, quality was mostly fair, with a few pens of prime. Prime lambs made 28s to 325, medium 20s to 245, and light Us Gd to 18s 6d.
