The Rev. S. Bullock, who was some time ago selected for the position of organiser of tho Church of England Men's Society in New Zealand, left as chaplain to the troops on board the transport Briton, which is expected to arrive in the Dominion on July 26. . It is probable-thab Mr Bullock's headquarters will be in Christchurch.
The death is announced of Mrs E. W. Pharazyn, widow of the late Hon. R. Pharazyn, at her daughter's residence, Takapuno, in her 98th year.
Tt is announced that Mr Donald" / Robertson. Public Service Commissioner, will retire on tho return of Mr Massey and Sir Joseph Ward. <n
At the High School Board meeting this morning the Education Department notified that the Governor-Gene-ral had appointed Mr T. J. Doherty to be a member of the board, vice Mr G-. H. Buchanan, resigned.
A cablegram from St. Johns. Newfoundland, stated that the Prince of Wales is expected to arrive there on August 12.
A Westport Press Association message stated that Mr Jas. Powell, a merchant who started business there in 1867, had died.
