UPPER ASHBURTON ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of tho Upper Ashburton Road Board was hold on Saturday, there beino- present Messrs J. Tucker (chairman), H. J. C. Harper, J. Farrell and A. Horsey. An .apology for absence was received from Mr J. Allen, owing to ill-health. The chairman reported a debit balance at the bank of £39 17s Bd. _ Mr S It. Miles wrote requesting that about 30 chains of tho road adjoining his property be formed.—Referred to -engineer to report. The Mayor of Ashburton wrote asking for an expression of opinion from the Board re the proposed war memorial. It was resolved that the board was in favour of a war memorial being erected in Ashburton, but no special form was upheld. The Canterbury Progress League wrote notifying its annual meeting.— Referred to chairman, who was appointed delegate. The Ashburton County Council wrote proposing that the storm-water drain on Thompson's Track be maintained by the Mt Hutt and Upper Ashburton Road Boards, the council to pay halt C o s t.—Referred to the surveyor to report on the position. Messrs Wilding and Acland forwarded a draft agreement between the board and the Ashburton Electrical Supply Coy in connection with the lighting of Allenton.—The chairman was empowered to act in the matter. The following alterations were authorised to be made in tho Valuation Roll, U.S. 25,4.42,432, from J. Scales to A Mclntosh, lots 46 to 54 D.P. 430 from E. Frisby to It. Thompson, lots 16 to 17, «.P. 203 fronrAV J. Lilley to A. E. Fifield, lot 10, D.P. 251, from estate of M. Stitt to W. H. Amos. , , c3l The striking of a general rate ot s d in the £ was confirmed. Resolved to call for tenders for shingling a portion of McCowan s Road near Westerfield. . , Accounts amounting to £304 13s 9d were passed for payment.
