RAKAIA.
The annual mooting of the P.W.M.U. in connection with St. Andrew s Church was held on Thursday. ■On account of the boisterous weather the attendance was small. The Rev A. Morrison occupied the chair. Mr R. Oakley read the annual report, which showed that it had been a busy year in connection with mission work. A. young peoples', busy bee hive had been' established \mder Mr Morrison, and with some assistance from the adults, would hold a sale at the annual soiree. For the now year Mrs Morrison was elected president, Mrs Boag vice-presi-dent, and Mr R. Oakley secretary and treasurer. The new railway timo-table has not altered very much the times of closing of mails at the Rakaia Post Office, except, of course, that several mails aro omitted altogether. The morning
mail for Ashburton is made up half-an-hour later, but the chief alteration is in regard to postal matter for the North Island, which now must be fosted by noon, instead of 3.30 p.m. t Beems to be a disadvantage to be living near a railway line nowadays, as the people on the Barr Hill Road to Methven are now better off for mails than those at Lauriston and Lyndhurst, who are on the line.
