TINWALD BRANCH.

Tho Tinwald lady Red Cross workers hold a wind-up gathering in tho Tinwald Hall oil Thursday evening, when a progressive euchre party and dance was h«ld.

Mr J. Cow, on behalf of the president (Mrs Cow), read a report of the working of the organisation since tho outbreak of war. The report showed that tlie branch had forwarded 3304 garments, and in addition 7025 towels, handkerchiefs, hot-water bags, etc., also 540 pairs of hand-made socks. Comforts such as cocoa, milk, coffee, etc., had also been handed over to the Lady Liverpool organisation to be sent to soldiers.

Since the last annual meeting £190 4s 8d had been spent in goods purchased, and £18 15s had been donated to the Lady Liverpool Society. The year finished with a credit balance of £15 6s 9d.

Since its inauguration tho branch collected in cash £623 7s sd; appeals, subscriptions, etc.. £66 5s 6d; afternoons and entertainments, £367 18s 3d ; interest, £8 9s 3d —making a total of £1066 0s sd.

Tlie expenditure aggregated £1050 13s Bd, and included: Goods, £943 7a sd; donations, £102 8s; sundries, £4 18s 3d—-leaving a credit balance of £15 6s 9d. The branch had also collected and handed over £15 11s to the "Hospital Saturday" Fund. Mrs D. Teppetf, on behalf of the branch, presented to the president (Mrs Cow) and secretary (Mrs T. Wilson) silver-mounted fruit dishes and books of poems as tokens of appreciation for the way tliey had carried on the work of organisation. Mr J. Cow congratulated the ladies of tiie branch on the excellent way they had worked throughout the war, and stated that it was highly creditable to a small community to show such a splendid record. He moved — " That , recognition of the services of the ladies be placed on record." The motion, was seconded by Mr D. Teppett, and carried unanimously. Votes of thanks were also accorded to the Oddfellows' Lodge for the free use of the hall throughout the war, also to the caretaker and the auditor (Mr F. W. Watt).
