The Government was defeated on,the third reading of the Women's Emancipation Bill, providing that women are not disqualified by sex or marriage from holding any «ffioe in the State, also that women shall have the. same franchise "as men. It was a-private member's' Bill and was passed by 100 to 85. Mr Astor-pointed out that it would add five million voters to the register. _ .
