Bowling Club. Jt&e opening of tho Methven Bowling Club took place yesterday aiter--^jMMi. Mrs Stewart and 'Mitt Aitken opened the games, and four full rinks were played during tb.6 Afternoon and well into the eyenmg: The green-keeper and the Grounds Committee deserve congratulation on • the condition of the green, which has certainly never looked better at the opening of a season. The club will be numerically stronger bhan ever this year, and as the old players are again in commission the coming season should be easily the most prosperous the club has enjoyed. ' .In re-electing Mr Stewart president this-year, the club has taken a wise sSt'ej*: The committee has just erected afl afternoon -tea kiosk adjoining the pavilion, and the benefit of the innovation was apparent yesterday. Tlie Tennis Club also' had a large muster on its courts, and some good games were the result. This club has lost a few- prominent; members, the «a.ptain (Dr. McKee) and,one or two others having gone to the seat of war since last season, but there are others coming on, and before the summer is far advanced we think the standard of play will 'be quite as high as it wa»s hist year.
