RETURNED 'SOLDIERS AND

MILITARY DUTY

(Per Press Association.) ' WELLINGTON, July 11. In .the House, of Representatives this afternoon^ Mr L. M. Isitt rei'crred to the'case of a .man wiio had' put in two or three years in France and Gallipoli, and who, with others, had been called up with the Twentyeighth Reinforcements after having been discharged. One case was that 'of a young man—the only son left to his parents—who had come back after nearly three years' service, and had one child. He had only five weeks' leave, and now had to go away again. That man told him he was one of eight others similarly circumstanced. Sir James Allen said he did not know of the case individually. The men were sent back on duty—they were not discharged.. Some of them asked to come back for certain reasons, and they came back as a special privilege. They were medically examined and discharges were authorised. Then came information that they- had obtained their discharges improperly. He would be glad to enquire into any special case.
