(Received May 10, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, May 9. Sir Douglas Haig reports:— We slightly advanced our positions last night north-east "of Hargicourt.

Our barrage completely broke an enemy attack last evening north-east of Gavrelle. Simultaneously, our artillery dispersed forces concentrating for an attack northward of Fresnoy.

Our counter-attack at night improved our position westward of Fresnoy, regaining a portion of the lost ground.
