Reports from Calcutta statoihat 1 the finai* wheat estimate is 39,750,000 quarters, a doersano of nearly 16 per cent, compared with 1915. WOOL. At tho'wool sales 5615 bales were offered. Thcro was an excellent selection, clikfiy from New Zealand and Western Australia. There was a large attendance and keen competition, especially for Mcrinoos, owing to tho scarcity. The beat advanced by 10 per cent., average .sorts by from 5 to 7$ per cent. Fine crossbreds were fully 5 par cont. higher, but medium was low, and barely maintained the previous levols. Tho woo! trade considers it unlikely .that the Australian embargo will be 'removed and tho general impression is that tho situation demands conservation of Merinos for the nest faw months. BANKS.
