RETURNED SOLDIERS.
To the Editor "Guardian." Sir, —If Mr Chas,. Reid will enquire from the proper authorities he will find that my statement regarding the issue ' ,of free railway passes is perfectly correct. The following is the procedure:,. On his return to the Dominion the soldier is given a free pass to his home, afterwards a free pass to any town . recommended by the Medical Board, and, on discharge, three weeks' free" pass on the railways, including mealaV-/ on trains.' ' • •• • . c Mr Reid's concluding sentence in his "letter of Saturday—that with him it is no-ti a question 1 of "knowing," but^of " acting " —is a. statement with which I agree. If lie reversed the procedure —obtained his ■ knowledge i first, and then acted —his efforts, which I know are- weTI-intcntioned, would be more effective than, they often appoar to be. C. W. NICOLL.
