WINTER NEEDS.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE TROOPS. WELLINGTON, October 14. Recently the Minister for Defence (the Hon. J. Allen) has been' in communication with the Imperial authorities and with the Staff at Gallipoli regarding the needs of the New Zealand troops during the winter campaign that seems now to have become inevitable-. He stated to-day that he had been advised what the requirements of the soldiers were"' likely to be. The troops would want cardigan jackets, mittens, etc;, to assist, them to |ace the winter blasts. ' They would also need sou-westers, waterproofs and oilskins o£ suitable colours as protection against wet, and there would be a demandx for trench boots.
