The will of the late Hon. E. C. J. Stevens has been filed with the Registrar of the Supreme Court. It is understood that-the value of the estate is in the region of £300,000. It is stated that bequests are made solely to relatives of the decea-sed gentleman.
A Press Association telegram from Pahiatua states that Miss Davis, who for over seven j'oars past has been matron of the Pahiatua District Hospital, and who ha y s received the appointment of matron of the Ashburton Hospital, was publicly farowellcd yesterday by a large and representative gathering. The Mayor prorsentod Miss Davis with a gold watch, and speeches were inado by the local doctors and by members of the "Wairarapa Hospital Board. Miss Davis had previously received a presentation from the general stafT of the hospital.
